Design

The Tasmanian devil is the scavenger of the forest, eating left-over carcasses and other dead animals. Without it, diseases would be more rampant in the forest, placing other animals in danger. The Tasmanian devil has strong, heavy molars and powerful jaws that tear and crush its food, which can include the bone and fur of dead animals. However, these powerful teeth were originally used to eat plants.

Features

• This small marsupial is covered with short, black fur with white markings on its throat. White patches may also be seen on its side and rump.
• The Tasmanian devil is energetic and curious, and it travels long distances each night looking for its food.
