A Book of Law—Old Testament

Author: Moses

When It Happened: 1490–1452 BC

Chapters: 36

Key People: Moses, Aaron, Joshua, Caleb

Summary: God was faithful to His people as He provided for and protected them. But they kept sinning against Him. When it came time to finally enter the land God had promised, only Joshua and Caleb believed the Lord was with them. The people were afraid to enter the land of Canaan.

God judged their sin, and that whole generation of Israelites would not see the Promised Land. The people wandered for 40 more years.

About God: God is just and He punished the people for their sin. But He also showed His mercy and faithfulness as He continued to forgive and prepare them for the Promised Land.
