Náhuatl

This step pyramid is in Yucatan, Mexico.

This Aztec legend is based on the real events of the flood and the tower of Babel found in Genesis 6–11 (in the Bible, God’s word to us). The account of the tower of Babel explains why we find so many languages and people groups around the world!

Humanity was wiped out by a flood, but one man, Coxcoxtli, and one woman, Xochiquetzal, escaped in a boat and reached a mountain called Colhuacan. They had many children, who were mute until the time when a dove on top of a tree made them the gift of languages. But these differed so much that the children could not understand each other.
