Minor Prophets—Old Testament

Author: Malachi

When It Happened: About 416 BC

Chapters: 4

Key People: Malachi

Summary: Malachi spoke for the Lord with a warning that the people must turn back to God. He spoke of God’s judgment on the Jews, who had repeatedly fallen away from the Lord into sin and disobedience. But Malachi’s call of judgment from God ended with hope in the One who would bring light out of darkness for all eternity—the promised Messiah. The book of Malachi is the last book of the Old Testament. There would be 400 years of silence before that light would dawn and Jesus would arrive.

About God: God is patient and faithful to His children. He will judge sin, but He has provided a Savior for all who will repent and believe.
