How Can I Be Sure I’m Going to Heaven?

Hi! Welcome back to the Kids Answers magazine blog, where we answer your big questions about God’s Word and God’s world.
Emma (age 11) asked,
“How can I be sure I’m going to heaven?”
That’s a good question, Emma.
If you have asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins and put your trust in him by believing that he died on the cross and rose again to save you, you can be sure you will spend eternity with him in heaven.
Some people believe that doing good things and trying not to sin will get them into heaven. But Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Everyone is a sinner. No matter how hard we try to be good, we always fall short.
But God sent his Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins. Three days later, Jesus defeated death by rising again. When we believe that Jesus died to save us and ask him to forgive us from our sins, we get to spend eternity in heaven with him.
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
