Why Are Movies Sometimes Anti-God?

Isabella P. (age 10) asks,
“Why do movies shown in theaters sometimes go against God?”
Good question, Isabella!
The Bible says that when we reject God, it affects every part of ourselves, including our mind and creativity. When people reject God, it shouldn’t surprise us that they make movies that go against him. But there are also Christian films that glorify God and tell people about the good news of Jesus.
It is important to be careful about what we watch because it can impact our way of thinking. If we watch a lot of things that depict rejections of God and how he made us, it can make it harder for us to follow him.
Because we all reflect God’s image, even some unbelievers will create beautiful works of art that glorify God despite the artist’s rejection of him. They can’t get away from it!
It is important to remember that our creativity is a gift from God, given to us because we are made in his image. We should be thankful for our gifts of creativity and use them to glorify him, whether we are painting, playing a musical instrument, or directing a movie!
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17)
