Showers of Blessing

“Rain, rain, go away.” Who hasn’t quoted this children’s rhyme as a downpour sent them scurrying? Now I think twice before repeating it.

I should be thankful because we couldn’t live without rain. And I’m thankful God provides, whether I always appreciate it or not. But there’s more.

The Creator makes sure rain grabs everyone’s attention, whether by downpour or by drought. It reminds us of our need for the one who sends rain. There’s no greater provision than pointing people to their Life-giver.

No wonder Paul chose rain to emphasize his call for idolatrous Gentiles to turn from their vanities to the “living God” (Acts 14:17).
