Shirley the Highland Cow
Hey, I hope you’re enjoying your visit to Ireland. I’m Shirley! The rain just stopped, and the sun is shining, so you’ve come at the perfect time. I live on the higher lands on Slemish Mountain, which is thought to be where St. Patrick lived.
St. Patrick was a famous shepherd and missionary. He told the people in Ireland that God’s Son, Jesus, died to take the penalty of their sins and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3–4). God has promised his followers that they will dwell with him forever in a perfect place. Although you have sinned, God has promised to show his children mercy.
Anyway, aren’t the higher lands just beautiful? My cow family loves it here, as do my sheep friends. It’s funny watching them sometimes—they love their shepherd and will follow him around wherever he goes.
Look, there’s a rainbow! Do you remember the biblical account of Noah’s flood? After Noah’s family walked off the ark, God placed a rainbow in the sky as a sign of his promise to never again flood the entire earth (Genesis 9:11–13). He has kept that promise, of course.
God’s promises are sure. If you aren’t sure if you will dwell in the house of God forever, talk with someone who loves Jesus and check out this article.
