Mission the Horse
Greetings neeeigh-bors! I’m Mission.
My owner named me Mission because he is always taking me on missions. He’s a circuit rider out here in the Old West, and together, we travel from town to town, sharing good news with the people who came to settle here.
We have the best job! The scenery is beautiful, and we get to meet lots of interesting people and their animals. I’ve even made a few new horse friends along the way. But the greatest part is seeing the joy on the faces of people who accept the message we share with them.
What is that message? Well, I’m glad you asked. The message (called the gospel) is that God, the Creator of the universe, loved you so much that he sent Jesus to die. Your sin deserves eternal punishment, but Jesus took that punishment when he died on the cross. And on the third day, he rose to life again! If you believe that Jesus is Lord and that he rose from the dead, God promises that you will be saved (Romans 10:9).
Jesus is back in heaven now, but he will come back one day. In Matthew 6:10, he prays to God the Father saying, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” When Jesus returns and his kingdom comes, he will defeat sin and Satan forever, and God’s children will get to live with him in a perfect place. This is the greatest news ever, and people need to hear it.
Will you join me on this mission to share the gospel with others? You don’t have to be a circuit rider—you can start now in the town you’re in.
