Junior the Wolf Pup

Junior the Wolf Pup

Hey there, kids! My name is Junior, and I’m a wolf pup. I live in a cozy den with my parents and siblings—the rest of my pack. I have fluffy brown fur and big paws that are still a little clumsy. I love to tumble with my brothers and sisters and chase my tail.

I’m still a pup, so I have a lot to learn. My dad teaches me many things, like the best spots to find the juiciest berries. I’m learning how to stay super quiet in the forest and listen for prey, but sometimes, I get too excited and scare my food away! One thing I’m learning right now is how to howl. Wolves don’t howl to scare humans but to communicate with their pack, and I need to know how to do it right. Right now, my howls sound a little squeaky and more like a yip. It’s tricky, but I’m practicing. Soon, I’ll have a big grown-up howl, just like my dad. I’m getting bigger and stronger each day. Growing up is so exciting!

My parents told me about another little boy who lived a long time ago who also grew and learned. His name was Jesus. He learned to walk and talk, and his parents taught him all sorts of things, just like my mom and dad are teaching me. Since Jesus’ earthly father was a carpenter, Jesus probably learned carpentry and other important things from watching him.

But guess what? Jesus was super special. He wasn’t just any boy. He was also God. Even when Jesus was a kid, he knew all sorts of things, even things his grown-up teachers didn’t know. Picture grown-ups asking a little kid questions and being amazed by his answers. Pretty incredible, right? And Jesus never did anything wrong. Can you imagine that? No nipping when you shouldn’t, no chasing squirrels into trouble—nothing.

Luke 2:52 says, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.” This means both God and the people around Jesus appreciated his wisdom and obedience.

So just like I’m learning and growing by watching my dad, Jesus also grew up. But unlike me, Jesus knew things about God that even the adults around him didn’t know, and he always did what was right. This makes me tilt my head in awe. I can’t wait to learn more about God as I grow up.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I hear my dad starting to howl. Awoooo! I need to practice.
