How Did Mountains Form?
Mar 19, 2025
Hope U. (age 11) asked,
“How were mountains made?”
Great question, Hope!
Evolutionists believe the mountains were formed very slowly, over millions of years. But the global flood of Noah’s day is really the reason for the rocky peaks some people love to climb.
The flood dramatically changed the way the earth looks. When the flood started, “the fountains of the great deep burst forth” (Genesis 7:11). This caused the tectonic plates that make up the earth’s crust to break and move apart. As the tectonic plates moved and collided, parts of the earth’s crust were pushed up, forming the mountains we have today.
Scientists often discover fossilized sea creatures at the tops of mountains, showing that the mountaintops were once covered with water, before or during the flood.
