Guide the Border Collie

Isn’t this a beautiful place? It’s my favorite place to take the sheep. There’s lots of green grass for them to enjoy, a quiet stream for when they get thirsty, rolling hills, and even colorful wildflowers!

Come meet my friends! This is Mia, and—wait, come over here . . . this is James, and this is Lily. There’s a lot more, but I’ll introduce you to them another time. The shepherd and I love these sheep, so we want to lead them to the best possible place each day. You know, a place where they can be safe, fed, and take a nap in peace. These sheep could never find a place like this on their own. Ha—they would get lost for sure. But I love leading them here, and when it’s time to take them back to the pasture for the night, I’ll make sure they stay on the right path all the way home.

I’m Guide, and I guide these sheep, but you have a guide too! God guides you as you read the Bible. I can’t read because, well, I’m a dog. But you can, or at least your parents can. Do you love to read God’s Word, and do you read it a lot? You really should; reading and obeying the Bible is how you can stay on the right path—the path of your life that God wants you to be on!

To be on the right path, you first have to be a child of God, meaning that you trust in Jesus’ death and resurrection to save you from your sins. And then God will lead you on “paths of righteousness,” or help you to live right. And it’s God’s Word where you can read the right way to live! As you follow God on the right path, he will be with you and give you his peace.

Oh wow, time is flying. I'd better get back to helping my sheep friends, but it was great to meet you. Hey, before I go, how about you thank God for being your guide and ask him to help you love his Word even more!

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. (Psalm 23:2–3)
