Champ the Grizzly Bear
Hi there! My name is Champ.
As the local grizzly bear, I’m king of the forest. You might even say I’m CHAMPion of the forest. In the spring and summer, I love making new friends as I explore my big home, and my favorite meal is salmon, fresh from the nearby stream. Yum!
When the weather becomes cooler, I stuff my belly full and then enter a cave. I’ll hibernate in that cave all winter. This helps me conserve energy in the freezing winter months. When it gets warm, I’ll come out of my cave, ready to take on the forest again.
Let me tell you about someone else who’s not just the champion of the forest—he’s champion of the whole world! Jesus is God’s Son who came to earth as a human. He was and is the only human who has never sinned!
Jesus came to earth to take the punishment for your sins. He died a terrible death on a cross, and he was buried in a tomb. The tomb was sort of like my cave, but Jesus wasn’t hibernating—he was really dead. But then, on the third day, he rose again! He came out of the tomb alive, showing that he is the champion over sin and death.
God will forgive your sins if you ask him. If you believe that Jesus is God and that he rose again, the Bible promises that you will live forever with him when you die. This is great news! John 20:31 says, “These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
